Feeling Exhausted? Revitalize Your Vitality

The energy you feed the universe is a powerful force. For some of us, it doesn't take too much for our energy to exhaust itself out.

Our energy is mostly derived from nutrients found in the foods we eat, but aside from our daily cuisine, a couple practices outside a well-balanced diet will leave you feeling re-energized in any areas of your life that are currently feeling anemic.

Differentiate types of energy

First and foremost, it's important to recognize and understand the different types of energy in your life. There's masculine energy which naturally is more assertive, dominant and competitive. Then we have feminine energy, which is known for being emotional, adaptive and nurturing.

Mastering Alchemy does a great job at explaining the key differences between feminine and masculine energy with a simple geometric metaphor:

"Have you ever noticed that the masculine and feminine don’t quite communicate on the same wavelength? The masculine and feminine somehow seem to misconnect in this third dimensional reality. There is a very good reason for this. Let me illustrate the difference between masculine and feminine as simply as possible. I am going to use the concept of geometry. Don’t get scared by the word geometry. In a simple way, masculine energy is made up of straight lines and angles. Feminine energy is made up of curves and swirls. There are no straight lines and angles in feminine energy and there are no curves and swirls in masculine energy. Feminine energy is also very energized and fast. Masculine energy is slow and dull. If I would be simple, masculine energy holds about 40 points of energy and feminine energy holds about 140 points of energy. Feminine energy is very expansive, very creative, and very fluid. Feminine energy can do 25 things at one time while it swirls and curves. Masculine energy says ‘straight line’⎯ go down a straight line. Go from point A to point B to point C and back to point A. Both types of creative energy are absolutely valuable to have at your access for balanced creations."

The differences in energy can alter the affects you have on your body and life. Recognizing your energy counts is important, but balancing them out is an even bigger challenge. You should always be aware of the energy you give out, the energy you're taking in, and the energy surrounding you.

Cultivate energy awareness

Chi is the Chinese word for "aliveness." Your chi is the energy that flows through you at all times. When your energy is disturbed, your body processes are bound to be as well. All fitness and health practices strongly focus on energy. You must take care of your energy the way you do your body. If your energy feels low, something within you isn't functioning properly, causing an imbalance. Energy awareness can help you identify what actions need to be taken to improve the growth of your mind, body and spirit. Keeping a full body-mind-soul awareness throughout your day is healthy for any shifts in energy that might occur. The more awareness you cultivate, the more you're able to balance your life out.

Stay hydrated

Drinking more water and getting more sleep shouldn’t come as a surprise. Dehydration can leave you feeling sluggishly exhausted. Drinking water re-hydrates your body, giving you more energy and appeasing any afflictions that may creep up on you. Honestly, if you really can’t keep up with drinking water on a daily basis, then something like Camelbak's Hydration Calculator would help keep track water you should be drinking determined by your personal stats can help.

Get enough sleep

Sleep doesn't always come easy, especially not for those of us who are stressed. Improving your sleep can be dependent on environmental factors. One of the best ways to ensure a good night's sleep is to make sure you aren't spending anytime in your bed during the day. When you limit your bedtime for nighttime activities only, it will be much easier for your brain to recognize that bed equals sleep. Turn off all electronics and dim all lights, if possible. Have the appropriate number of pillows ready, and take the time to make your bed in the morning. Drinking a cup of chamomile tea before bed can really soothe your mind and help you gain a full night’s rest. This may seem counterintuitive, but bear in mind that getting too much sleep is also energy draining. Limit yourself to a healthy 7-8 hours per night.

Exercise and nutrition

Exercising makes you happier and more alert. A rush of endorphins might be all you need to get yourself going on a low-energy day. Be sure to keep an eye out for nutrition- lack in Vitamin B12 can include symptoms of, "Numbness in the legs, hands, or feet; problems with walking and balance; anemia; fatigue; weakness; a swollen, inflamed tongue; memory loss; paranoia; and hallucinations." A lack in exercise can generate similar symptoms.

Keep a focus on your goals

Perhaps the strongest way to ground your energy is to focus on your goals. What are you working towards? What are your daily goals? Your long-term goals? Are you reflecting on these goals, are you taking the steps to make them happen? What have you done recently that has gotten you closer to your goals? A focused mind will attract the right things you need to help you further achieve what you are reaching for. Don't let your vision drift. Your goals determine who and what you will become.
